This Zoom meeting for Docents is held on the first Monday of every month at 4:15. We will share "tour stories" of the good, the bad, and the interesting things that happened during tours in the previous month, plan ahead for the next month's tours, and, time permitting, engage in lively discussion about a content-related topic!

Those interested in assisting with tours who have not completed Docent Training, are encouraged to attend. The content of this meeting is relevant to anyone who wants to help with tour groups in the museum! :)

Nicholas Edwards Williams - Roots Music

Age Range : 17-18  (Most of the group is recently graduated high school students from around the country. Their interests are varied. They are in our region to learn about East Tennessee.)

Tour Highlights: Intro Guided, Scavenger Hunt, SEG

Join us for a Radio Bristol’s Farm and Fun Time, with musical guests Belle Frantz and Andrew Sa in the intimate performance theater at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum. Hosted by Kris Truelsen and Country Casserole, Farm and Fun Time is a re-imagining of the classic WCYB Radio program of the same name that aired in the 1940s and 1950s. Radio Bristol’s Farm and Fun Time broadcasts live before a studio audience and recorded for television syndication on more than 143 PBS channels across the United States. It can be accessed on 100.1 FM in the Bristol area, or online at ListenRadioBristol.org and on Radio Bristol’s free mobile app. Viewers may also tune in to watch through Radio Bristol’s Facebook page.

Event Description: Niswonger Foundation "Museums and Masterpieces" Micro-Trip

Group Details: Approximately 50 students and 5 adults arriving by tour bus.  

Age Range: Highschool sophomores

Schedule:  9:00 AM: Arrival in Bristol for breakfast at Blackbird Bakery.  

10:00 AM: Tours start at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum (BCMM).  

Activities: The large group will be split into smaller groups of 20–25 students, rotating between BCMM, the Paramount Theatre, and Create Appalachia.  

Museum Visit: Includes a docent-guided tour through the museum galleries.

Assisting the ETNBA (East TN Bluegrass Association) with anything they may need during their monthly Jam sessions. 

This is a regularly occurring training

July 28 - Museum Store Training - This will involve training on the registers and provide lunch coverage. 

August 25 - Office Administrative Assistance - This is for anyone interested in helping out at the administrative office with tasks such as festival fulfilment, mailing (envelop stuffing and addressing), supplies inventory, and generally supporting the office staff with daily administrative tasks and needs. The training will include a tour of the office focused on where people and things are located and how to use some of the relevant appliances. This will be held at the office.
